Services Unlimited constructed the "Cold Room" environment
for Opryland's "Fantasy In Ice". Never before seen
in North America....Life-size sculptures and three dimensional
holiday theme displays - all created out of one million pounds
of ice!
Direct from Harbin China and for the first time in the United
States, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center is
presenting "Fantasy In Ice" as part of its All New
"A Country Christmas" celebration. The event begins
Nov. 21 and runs through Jan. 4, 2002, at the Gaslight Theater
in Opry Plaza.
Guests will step inside a "City of Ice" featuring
interactive displays of three-dimensional ice carvings and
sculptures. "Fantasy In Ice" features more than
1 million pounds of ice, sculpted into your favorite life-size
holiday memories, including bears that weigh more than eight
tons, Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and The Nativity Scene. Some
of the carvings and sculptures are more than 25 feet in length.
Now for the first time in the United States, these artisans
will design, build and create a winter wonderland of ice for
Gaylord Opryland's 18th annual "A Country Christmas."
This October, 55 Chinese artisans will arrive in Nashville
and begin work on this exciting the project.
The 'Fantasy In Ice' display will take place in a self-contained
20,000 square foot refrigerated theater that keeps 1 million
pounds of ice at 20° degrees F. It's so cold, guests will
be issued hooded parkas as they enter the exhibit. The exhibit
is separated into eight major ice carving and sculpture environments.
They include: The Grand Entrance, Santa's Workshop, Mrs. Claus'
Kitchen, Ice Slide, Old Man Winter Cave, Ice Forest, Christmas
Windows and The Nativity.
This one-of-a-kind exhibit features exceptional designs by
noted New York design agency Hotopp & Associates; lighting
designer, David Agress; the Harbin Ice and Tourism Festival;
and International Special Attractions, Ltd.
"Fantasy In Ice" will be located at the Gaslight
Theater in Opry Plaza, adjacent to The Grand Ole Opry House,
from Nov. 21, 2001 to Jan. 4, 2002. The exhibit will be open
Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Friday, Saturday
and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Tickets for "Fantasy In
Ice" are $12.45 inclusive for adults, and $5.95 inclusive
